My Bunker Holding journey began after I graduated from university, where I took on the role of Collections Manager with very little knowledge about the shipping industry.
I was immediately given a huge chunk of responsibility, which enabled me to develop my own personal niche in the company. Indeed, being in this ever-changing industry means that I have come to enjoy this role even more as every day is never the same; often, I can work for a whole day without looking at the clock even once. What I really enjoy about the company is that it has enabled me to travel to new countries and meet a lot of people, which has been really rewarding – in terms of contributing to the improvement of my professional skills as well as my personal development. For instance, Bunker Holding has supported me in accomplishing one of my personal milestones: the completion of my degree in English law while working full time.
I would work from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and then study at the office from 6 to 12 p.m. That was the hardest thing I have ever done, but supported by my work experience, my industrial knowledge and my manager at Bunker Holding, I was able to complete it with good grades. As a result, I have been given the opportunity to grow further in the company by working closely with Bunker Holding’s legal department on several projects to utilise and enhance my theoretical background. I am a firm believer that hard work pays off and as such, I am extremely lucky to be part of a company that values hard work and commitment.
